Can't talk about the Giulia but Alfa reliability is mostly an old problem. The 159 was really good. A few common issues that were mostly easily fixed and were shared with other manufacturers. Swirl flaps for example which I believe BMWs suffer from as well. I've driven a Giulia diesel.
